Assassin's Creed Mirage, the next installment in Ubisoft's popular historical action-adventure series, has been reportedly delayed again. The game, which was announced in September 2022 during Ubisoft Forward event, was originally slated to release in August 2023. However, according to a new report by Dexerto, Ubisoft has internally pushed back the release date to sometime in 2024.
The report cites unnamed sources who claim that the development of Assassin's Creed Mirage has been facing some issues and challenges. The game is said to be still running on the same engine that powered Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which was released in 2020. The report also suggests that Ubisoft may reveal more information about the delay and the game's current status during its next Ubisoft Forward event later this year.
Assassin's Creed Mirage is set in 12th century Persia, during the time of the Third Crusade. The game follows Basim, a street thief who joins the Assassins after having visions of a mysterious artifact. The game promises to bring back some of the classic features of the series, such as parkour, stealth, assassinations, and urban environments. The game also introduces a new mechanic called Mirage, which allows Basim to manipulate his surroundings and create illusions.
The delay of Assassin's Creed Mirage is not confirmed by Ubisoft yet, so it should be taken with a grain of salt. However, it is not surprising given the recent trend of major games being delayed due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors.
